South Coast Elopement
With two young boys and family on opposite ends of the world, Shine & Warren decided to elope on the South Coast of NSW. In their own words, eloping meant that they could make the day “just the way they wanted it to be”. After a short ceremony, they hung out as a family and enjoyed a picnic and some fun in the gardens, and then headed to the beach to finish off the day. Shine and I decided that a photo with the waves crashing behind her would look pretty sweet. After standing around for a few minutes waiting for a wave to hit, this HUGE wave came out of nowhere, leaving both of us absolutely soaked. I looked around to see a bunch of locals who had been watching the whole thing unfold rolling on the ground with laughter. But I still had a smiling bride in front of me!
Some highlights of the day include:
• One of the boys falling into the water (and then remaining shoeless for the rest of the afternoon) and the other tripping over and ripping his jeans (cue lots of cuddles from Mum!)
• Shine being told in the morning by her make-up artist that “no one wears boots with their wedding dress”. Shine pulled them off like no other bride I’ve seen!
• Personally being one of the witnesses and signing the marriage documents – always makes me feel special!
• That HUGE wave and Shine’s beaming smile afterwards saying “That was SO cool!”.
Working with couples who focus on the meaning of their day and who aren’t afraid to get sand/water/mud on their outfits is so amazing. The dress and flowers won’t be hanging on your walls for years to come, but the memories will be. 🙂
